Storyboards

Today I introduced a new planning tool to the students; the storyboard. The aim is to get children to plan their stories in sequential order and to get them thinking about the details in the small moments that occur in their lives. For some breaking a story idea into three parts was tricky and needed some thought. Questions posed were, how did you get to where you were going? What did the environment look like that you were in? What happened? Who were you with? We will be turning our story boards into books, it will be interesting to see how they develop over the next few days. We all enjoyed sharing our storyboards with each other at the end of the session.

Developmental time on Friday

I'm always looking for hands on, fun and creative experiences to bring into the classroom. On Friday, I covered two tables in paper and placed African animals on one and Dinosaurs on the other. It was K7's job to draw the habitats for the animals. This was great fun and the children really enjoyed it.

Letter Writing

With the introduction of a class letter box, K7 have been really excited about writing letters. We've had lessons on letter writing and we have a buddy to write to each week. I have given the option of writing letters as a literacy activity and it has been very popular. It is great to see the children exploring different mediums of writing and choosing to write.

What did we get up to in week 9?

K7 are working very well on completing their independent work. They had a blast making Ukuleles. They came up with the idea to make a strap made of string all by themselves!

Celebrating Success- Ari's Writing

Below is a story he wrote about his dad for fathers day and a story he wrote today about his weekend.

This term K7 has been working on their ball skills. So far we have practiced chest passes, bounce passes, lobs and volley ball strikes. Next we will be practicing striking with our feet.
This week we started Ripper Rugby, the children had so much fun learning new running games with our instructor Mason.
